Abstract, experimental, Free-Jazz, fusion. there are many adjectives that describe Universal Consciousness by Alice Coltrane. A mixture of traditional Indian sounds and tonal improvisation, there are times when Alice Coltrane transcends the realm of Jazz. This album is for a specific mind, as Mrs. Coltrane’s Universal Consciousness takes you to other places that you didn’t know existed! This work was transcribed by jazz legend Ornette Coleman, and as another side note, Alice Coltrane is the great-aunt to producer Flying Lotus.
