Cannonball Adderley – Love, Sex, and the Zodiac (1974)

This Cannonball Adderley album can definitely be categorized as ‘Niche’, when considering the fact that it’s a spoken word album narrated by Rick Holmes, and also the the theme of the album which focuses on astrology. On the flip side, this album has an all star cast which is definitely worth noting. (see below) It may not be your flavor, or you may fall in love with it instantly. Regardless, you can hear Hip Hop samples littered throughout this album, so this off-the-wall project has obviously stuck a chord with some noteworthy producers. A side note, Love, Sex, and the Zodiac was recorded in 1970, but released in 1974. Either way, it’s here for your listening enjoyment.
