It’s about time to Give the Drummer Some on the Roy Ayers Project, and a great way to start off the tribute to Jazz Drummers is to showcase Chico Hamilton, and his 1966 album “The Dealer”. What is definitely a classic Impulse! record cover, Chico displays is versatile sound by fusing a Blues sound with Jazz during a time when Jazz was very traditional. This Los Angeles native features a wide variety of instrumentation on this album including an introduction to Larry Coryell. Enjoy Mr. Hamilton, and listen to him dealin through the entire album. It is a great listen all the way through
