Let us expand. First off, we should mention that REL is an integal part of the Roy Ayers Project, as he is one of our two camera men…and after he is done shooting the video, he is a master editor as well, producing for many entertainment hubs including Distortion 2 Static and CNET (CBS Interactive), on top of an array of freelance projects and side interests, one of which include being a wizard on the beats. Today, March 6th, REL releases his debut instrumental album entitled Out of View.
Released on the SWTBRDS (Sweetbreads) label, Executive Producer and label mate Al Jieh refer to everything they release as “Gourmet Music”, and Out of View definitely lives up to that reputation. While some instrumentals give you a roller coaster of emotion by displaying every possible range of hip hop production, Out of View can be described as staying the course and keeping true to the theme of serene samples, crisp drums, rich sound quality, and a overall good sound. In lieu of a mixed bag of production sounds, REL gives you his own range, as he is able to produced uptempo beats, smooth, chill beats, and beats with thump, all in the context of his own sound, which can be seen as his own range, but also a comfortable listening niche.
However you want to slice it, REL’s production style is one of a kind, and Out of View is a must download…and best of all, it’s free, compliments of REL and SWTBRDS.
